Specific Functions- Advocacy and Leadership

a). Advocacy and Representation:

NPCA engages in advocacy efforts, representing the concerns of its member’s community colleges to the government, affiliating university and funding organization ie University Grants Commission, Nepal and many other educational institutions, and other relevant stakeholders. It often lobby for better funding, resource generation, and affiliation of academic programs, Quality Assurance accreditation, identity of the organizations and its peoples, academic freedom, and by advocating for policies and regulations that benefit these institutions in terms of funding, curriculum development, and academic standards.

 b). Government Liaison:

Establish connections with three layers of government (Central/Provincial and local level) to communicate the needs and concerns of community colleges and actively participate in discussions of fostering the sustainable development, advocacy for policy reform and  long term sustainable growth of the community colleges.

c). Collective Bargaining and Negotiation:

NPCA is a pool for the community colleges to negotiate with university authorities/government bodies/UGC/ Provisional and local level governments regarding for its concerns and issues.

d). Professional Development:

NPCA is organizes workshops, seminars, and other professional development programs for its members to enhance their teaching skills, share knowledge and good practices, and stay updated with the latest educational reforms and professional development of its faculty and staffs.

e). Policy and Educational Reforms:

The association is working for suggesting and influencing policy reforms in higher education, contributing to the development and enhancement of academic standards and curriculum.

f). Collaboration and Networking:

1). The association is collaborating with other educational institutions, both nationally and internationally, fostering academic collaboration and networking opportunities for its members.

2). Create platforms for the sharing of best practices, resources, and innovative ideas among member colleges.

3). Facilitate partnerships and collaborations among community colleges, fostering joint projects, research endeavors, and joint initiatives.

4). Facilitate student exchange programs among member colleges to promote diversity and exposure to various educational environments.

g). Research and Publications:

NPCA is encouraging and supporting the research among its members, and potentially publish academic articles or papers that contribute to the advancement of community colleges in Nepal.

h). Centralized Fundraising and Sponsorship:

NPCA has conducting the fundraising campaigns and seek sponsorships from local governments, corporations, cooperate houses, and individuals interested in supporting higher education. These funds can be directed towards scholarships for students within member colleges. Establish partnerships with other organizations, businesses, or NGOs to create additional scholarship opportunities or support existing ones

 i). Establishment of Endowment Funds:

Encourage member colleges to contribute to an endowment fund for scholarships. This pooled investment can generate interest over time, providing sustainable funding for scholarships.

j). Fundraising Initiatives:

Initiate fundraising efforts to support the collective needs of member colleges, including infrastructure development, faculty training, and student scholarships. Seek and help to distribute regular grants from University Grants Commission (UGC) that support community colleges, encouraging initiatives related to research, development, and student related programs.

k). Scholarship and Support Services:

Introduce and provide the various scholarship grants or centralized support services for students from member colleges, ensuring equal opportunities for all.
